چکیده

The purpose of this study was to assess long chain polyunsaturated fatty acid (LCPUFA) status in relation socio-behavioral outcomes children with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (AD/HD). In a case-control design, plasma phospholipid content assessed aged 5–12 years AD/HD and typically functioning children. Dietary intakes LCPUFAs arachidonic (AA; 20:4n6) docosahexaenoic (DHA; 22:6n3) were quantified using four-day food record, polymorphisms determined FADS1 FADS2, the Conners 3 Parent Rating Scales cross section AD/HD. Compared children, AA DHA 40% lower Median intake AA, but not DHA, higher compared Polymorphisms (rs174546) FADS2 (174575) associated linoleic (LA; 18:2n6) level. Plasma level inversely inattention score. Despite having an elevated diagnosed have reduction which may be due part desaturase (FADS) gene cluster or increased conversion AA-derived metabolites. Increasing ameliorate symptoms

A maternal erythrocyte DHA content of approximately 6 g% is the DHA status at which intrauterine DHA biomagnifications turns into bioattenuation and postnatal infant DHA equilibrium is reached

PURPOSE Higher long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LCP) in infant compared with maternal lipids at delivery is named biomagnification. The decline of infant and maternal docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) status during lactation in Western countries suggests maternal depletion. We investigated whether biomagnification persists at lifelong high fish intakes and whether the latter prevents a postpart...

Doxorubicin Efficacy and Dha

Polyunsaturated fatty acids have been reported to enhance the cytotoxic activity of several anticancer drugs. In the present study, we observed that doxorubicin chemosensitization of breast cancer cell lines by docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, a long chain omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid) was cell-line selective, affecting MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7dox (a doxorubicin resistant cell line) but not the par...

Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) supplementation of orange juice increases plasma phospholipid DHA content of children.

The major dietary source of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is fish, which is not widely consumed by children. There is concern, therefore, that children may not receive adequate DHA and so might benefit from dietary supplementation. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effects of providing a supplement of microencapsulated algal DHA in juice. We assessed the effects of two levels of DHA...

C]DHA in phosphatidylcholine

The amount and distribution of [ 13 C]docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) in plasma, platelet, and erythrocyte lipid classes were followed as a function of time (1 to 72 h) in young adults after ingestion of a single dose of [ 13 C]DHA esterified in a phosphatidylcholine (PC), in using gas chromatography combustion–isotope ratio mass spectrometry. [ 13 C]DHA first appeared in plasma non-esterified fatty...

DHA supplementation and pregnancy outcomes.

BACKGROUND Observational studies associate higher intakes of n-3 (omega-3) long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LCPUFAs) during pregnancy with higher gestation duration and birth size. The results of randomized supplementation trials using various n-3 LCPUFA sources and amounts are mixed. OBJECTIVE We tested the hypothesis that 600 mg/d of the n-3 LCPUFA docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) can incr...
